We’re not even four days into the new year and we already have our first major delay of 2016.

That’s right, PlatinumGames has announced that Scalebound has been delayed to 2017.

Scalebound was originally set to release later this year, but according to an update on the PlatinumGames website, development is going to require a bit more time. This is a bummer seeing as this was one of the bigger Xbox One exclusives set to release this year.

Here’s what Platinum had to say about the delay: “In order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that Scalebound lives up to expectations, we will be launching the game in 2017, this will give us the time needed to bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experiences that we have planned.”

Don’t think you won’t hear anything about Scalebound this year though. PlatinumGames has already said they have a lot to show off this year as they continue development on the game.

It’s sad that we won’t be getting Scalebound this year, but if rumors are true, I’m excited to see what a PlatinumGames Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game will look like.
