We’re about to enter into a hell of a stretch for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 hits theaters May 6th. Thor: Ragnarok is penciled in for November 3rd of this year too. But sandwiched between those space-faring adventures is a movie centered around a geeky high schooler named Peter Parker. Today, we got a much closer look at his film – Spider-Man: Homecoming.
“Does the Suit Make the Man?”
The first thing to take away from today’s trailer is that Tony Stark is much more prominent in the film than we may have thought. He’s everywhere. And he’s taking the mentoring role of the young Peter Parker quite seriously.
A main crux of the film appears to be Tony taking away Peter’s suit from him. Peter has screwed something up, and thus as punishment, Stark relinquishes the advanced tech. It’s inferred that Tony wants Peter to sit on the sidelines for a while. But if that were to happen we wouldn’t have Spider-Man: Homecoming now would we?
It’s because of this that Peter is forced back to his roots. He readorns his old sweatshirt-esque costume and returns to take the fight to Michael Keaton’s Vulture. All in all, it looks good! It’s a much stronger showing than the first trailer that debuted. We aren’t likely to see a ton more of the film ahead of its release date of July 7th, so it eat it up while you can.
