Games with Gold

Another month, another crop of free games courtesy of Microsoft’s Games with Gold promotion. Once again, we have two entries from the Xbox One and two entries from the Xbox 360. Let’s take a look at what’s in store for September.

I Hope You Like Parquor in Your Games with Gold

On the Xbox 360 side of things, we start September off with Forza Horizon. The racing title from 2012 earned itself a Metascore of 85 upon release. The series has grown from there, with Forza Horzion 2 hitting Xbox One in 2014, and the upcoming Forza Horizon 3 on Xbox One in about a month. Download the original to see how the series started off.

The latter half of September sees the original Mirror’s Edge become a free download courtesy of Games with Gold. The original in the series, Mirror’s Edge was a fan favorite amongst many with its innovative first-person parquor action. Make sure to grab it between September 16th and September 30th if you’ve never played it before.

On Xbox One, the entire month of September debuts Earthlock: Festival of Magic to the world. Here’s the description of the new RPG as per the Xbox Newswire:

“This westernized turn-based RPG, which in subtle ways reveals its Scandinavian origin, starts as a simple quest, but develops into a deeper journey. Play as Amon and join several unlikely heroes to save Umbra, a beautiful but harsh world that mysteriously stopped spinning thousands of cycles ago. Mix up your strategy to beat your enemies by crafting ammo and materials, harvesting elemental plants, and customizing your characters’ talent tree.”

Games with Gold - Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China
2.5D Assassin’s Creed action.

In addition to Earthlock, September 16th will see the free listing of Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China. This twist of the Assassin’s Creed series shift the series to a 2.5D perspective, which dramatically alters the way the title is experienced. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China will be available through October 15th.
