The Defenders

Those that attended the Netflix/Marvel New York Comic-Con panel were awarded quite the surprise Saturday night. A flurry of announcements were made, but perhaps none bigger than the reveal of who will be playing the villain for Marvel’s The Defenders.

Villains Don’t Get Much Bigger Than This

There were several announcements before the panel concluded with the big reveal. The first trailer for Iron Fist premiered before the New York crowd. Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) was on hand to announced that Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page would be crossing over to his show. And then as a finale, the entirety of The Defenders core cast hit the stage for the first time together.

Charlie Cox’s Daredevil. Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones. Mike Colter’s Luke Cage. Finn Jones’ Danny Rand. The team was united at last – but to defend against what? Or should I say whom…

A big to-do was made, and for good reason, as Sigourney Weaver was called out onto the stage. As a grand finale, Netflix and Marvel announced that Sigourney Weaver would be playing the unnamed villain in The Defenders series. Wow.

The companies were stingy with details. No clues were given as to who she is playing or how far the role extends. We just know that it’s pretty damn awesome. The clip below shows The Defenders hitting the stage together, and then Weaver’s reveal. Check it out.
