How We Soar

Penny Blue Studios has revealed the next notch in the PlayStation VR belt. Their new game, entitled How We Soar, looks to place players on the back of a legendary Phoenix as they explore the title’s artistic paper-based environments and hidden story.

Described directly from Penny Blue Studios’ site:

How We Soar is a VR flight experience that gives you the chance to take up the reins of a beautiful, giant Phoenix and explore an enchanting papercraft world.  Seated on the back of this mythical creature, you must reform your surrounding and paint in color as you soar across this paper environment, uncovering the story of the mysterious Author as you fly.”

You’ll be using your DualShock 4 controller to “swoop, glide and dive” on the back of your Phoenix. While doing so, you’ll uncover what Penny Blue is describing as a “hidden story”. “The world that the player explores has been created in mind and memories of ‘The Author’.  Travelling back and forth between the worlds of reality and fantasy, the player must uncover the story contained within each level and piece together the tale of The Author’s life.”

Penny Blue also touts the ability to change the environment around you, say that “via the simple act of flight and skimming close to the environment, you interact with the world, reforming twisted shapes into recognizable environments, uncover secrets, as well as restoring color to the world – painting by flight!”

How We Soar is to be a single player endeavor exclusively for PlayStation VR. They are targeting a release in Q4 2016. We’re sure to see a bit more of it next week at E3.

Growing up a 90's kid, Jeff found his love for gaming during Nintendo's heyday. Because of that, you could call him a "Nintendo Fanboy" (albeit a rational one) to this day. Outside of his passion for the gaming industry, he’s also an avid sports enthusiast (New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies mainly) and enjoys quality/popular TV shows and movies.
