With South Park: The Fractured But Whole scheduled to arrive in March, it was odd that we hadn’t heard anything from Ubisoft about the game’s launch. Well, now we know why. The game has dropped a deuce as far as delays go.
Blame It On Kyle
For the second time, Ubisoft has pushed the title back. This time, we have no idea when they’re targeting for release. What we do know, is that they plan to release it during their next fiscal year. Which in layman’s terms means that the game could drop anywhere from April 2017 through March 2018. Talk about narrowing things down for us…
To be fair, in a statement they did use the words “a few months”:
“South Park: The Fractured But Whole will no longer ship in March 2017 and is delayed for a few months on all platforms. The team(s) at South Park and Ubisoft San Francisco are committed to pushing the envelope during development to deliver the best experience possible, and this additional time will allow them to do so.”
The title was initially set to launch in December of 2016. That date was pushed back a quarter and South Park: The Stick of Truth was planned to release instead in March 2017. Now, that’s no longer in the cards. Hopefully since the initial delay was only 3 months, we can infer that the game is relatively close to completion. However, with Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s track record as perfectionists, who the hell knows when they’ll finally be satisfied with their final product.
