I don’t exactly know why, but I never saw this news coming. Nintendo, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Producer Eiji Aonuma, have announced premium expansion DLC for their upcoming mega title.
There’s More to Explore Starting This Summer
Here is Mr. Aonuma’s reasoning for expanding on the core Breath of the Wild experience:
“When creating the world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, we went to great lengths to make Hyrule a massive place. Since this incarnation of Hyrule is so huge, it’s our hope that everyone who plays will have a wide variety of fun experiences as they explore. To help people do that, we’ve decided to create additional content for the game – a first for the main-line Legend of Zelda series. “
The plan is to roll out two main DLC drops with the first releasing this summer. The first one adds a Hard Mode to the core game, an “additional map feature”, and adds a “new Cave of Trials challenge.” The second part of the Expansion Pass will release during the Holiday season. This is the far juicier one. It contains a “new original story”, a new dungeon, and “additional challenges.”
You can buy the entire Expansion Pass for $19.99. This includes DLC Pass 1 and DLC Pass 2, as well as bonus features. Said features include 3 new Treasure Chests that will be someone within The Great Plateau. Within said chests “contains useful items” as well as exclusive in-game clothing.
