Ninendo

It appears as though the puck is poised to drop in September. No, not the NHL, silly. I’m talking about the long-awaited (for some?) Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader which will enable Nintendo NFC equipped products to interact with older Nintendo 3DS models.

The Nintendo 3DS XL, of course,  has a built-in NFC chip. Older versions of the 3DS portable will require the puck shaped device if you want it to interact with amiibo or the upcoming Animal Crossing NFC cards. Target is the first to have the information go live on their site. The retailer has listed the Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader at $19.99 and shipping on September 25th.

You can find the Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader listing here if you’re interested in preordering. Otherwise you can head to retailers (or at least Target) September 25th to grab one.

Growing up a 90's kid, Jeff found his love for gaming during Nintendo's heyday. Because of that, you could call him a "Nintendo Fanboy" (albeit a rational one) to this day. Outside of his passion for the gaming industry, he’s also an avid sports enthusiast (New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies mainly) and enjoys quality/popular TV shows and movies.
