As someone smartly predicted last week, Telltale’s Batman is wrapping up and The Walking Dead is poised to arrive just before the close of 2016. Telltale has announced that the first episode of Season 3 is headed our way in December.

It’s A New Frontier

That tagline isn’t just witty, it’s actually the name of Season 3’s first episode. The Walking Dead Season 3: A New Frontier is headed our way on December 20th. It’ll be ready for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC and compatible iOS and Android phones on day one. For those that prefer to wait for a retail release, a disc version containing the Season Pass will be available on February 7th.

Here is the synopsis for Season 3:

“When family is all you have left… how far will you go to protect it? Four years after society was ripped apart by undead hands, pockets of civilization emerge from the chaos. But at what cost? Can the living be trusted on this new frontier? As Javier, a young man determined to find the family taken from him, you meet a young girl who has experienced her own unimaginable loss. Her name is Clementine, and your fates are bound together in a story where every choice you make could be your last. “

I don’t know how you guys interpret that, but I read it as this season will put us in control of Javier as opposed to Clementine. It looks as though this will take place about 3 years after last season. That is if Season 1 and Season 2 took about a year to transpire. I was told there would be no math…

For those excited to get a look at Season 3 of The Walking Dead, The Game Awards will play host to “a special extended first look at the premiere episode.” The Game Awards are December 1st, so not long to wait there. Checkout some of the art that Telltale released below to whet your appetites.

Growing up a 90's kid, Jeff found his love for gaming during Nintendo's heyday. Because of that, you could call him a "Nintendo Fanboy" (albeit a rational one) to this day. Outside of his passion for the gaming industry, he’s also an avid sports enthusiast (New York Giants and Philadelphia Phillies mainly) and enjoys quality/popular TV shows and movies.
