That was… unfortunate. Well, at least for Naughty Dog’s lead writer, Josh Scherr. Scherr, during a Naughty Dog livestream to promote the upcoming Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, the studio’s writer seems to have let the cat out of the bag in regards to The Last of Us 2 being in development.
Scherr, while discussing facial animations within Naughty Dog’s catalogue of recent hits, slipped up and stumbled all over himself:
Thanks to YouTube user Jeronimo PW, the moment is gathering momentum. It now appears as though The Last of Us 2 is not longer an if, but a when. It clearly seems as though it’s currently in development over at Naughty Dog, and probably relatively deep. The last thing on the team’s release list is Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in March. It’s probably safe to assume a strong push through winter, then a full blowout for The Last of Us 2 at E3.
