Nintendo has announced The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. The title is being designed for the Nintendo 3DS and features cooperative multiplayer game play.

Multiplayer features up to three characters, all working together as opposing to competitively as in The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords. A main gimmick of The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is the “Totem Mechanic.” The three heroes stand atop each other three tall to fight taller foes and solve puzzles together.

If you aren’t bringing friends along, there is a single player mode as well. Instead of partners, you’ll have two “doll like characters” that you can switch between on the fly to help get yourself through the adventure.

Nintendo is also touting a “fashion element” to the The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. Different outfits with enhance the playable characters with different abilities. We’ll have more details as we get them.
