The Walking Dead: Michonne

It’s been 18 months since the conclusion of Telltale’s The Walking Dead Season 2. With no word on Season 3 as of yet, The Walking Dead: Michonne looks to fill that void when it releases tomorrow. To fill the void that are these final hours, Telltale has released a new launch trailer that hints at what’s to come in Episode 1: “In Too Deep”.

The Walking Dead: Michonne isn’t a continuation, or even a side-story of, Clementine’s saga that we followed throughout seasons 1 and 2. Instead, Michonne is a comic-canon telling of the period in which Michonne leaves Rick Grimes’ camp during issues 126 and 139. The season will be 3 episodes in length with Samira Willey of Orange Is the New Black fame voicing the titular character. Hinted at in the below trailer, here is what we can expect from the first episode:

“Michonne joins Pete and his crew on the sailing ship  The Companion as they cruise the coast for survivors and supplies. When a desperate signal for help draws them to a scene of horrific massacre, Michonne and the crew are lead further to the floating survivors’ colony of Monroe, which may just be harboring the person responsible for the carnage. “

And here’s a summation of the season as a whole:

“Haunted by her past, and coping with unimaginable loss and regret, the story explores Michonne’s absence between issues #126 and #139 of the comic book. Over the three episodes of the miniseries, players will discover what took Michonne away from Rick, Ezekiel, and the rest of her trusted group… and what brought her back. “

You can purchase the The Walking Dead: Michonne season pass for $14.99 which grants access to all three episodes immediately upon release. Episode 2: “Give No Shelter” is planned for March, while the finale “What We Deserve” is set to release in April. VPDaily will have a review of “In Too Deep” later this week.
