Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 - Clueless Gamer

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 releases next week, so the Birdman himself stopped by Conan to showcase the game on Conan’s Clueless Gamer segment. He also brought along a special guest, and playable in-game character, Lil Wayne.

Conan verbally played around with Wayne to start, touching on Wayne’s skating and then on the plethora of tattoos he has. So much so that he’s getting his own tattoo ideas tatted onto friends as his own personal canvas is out of room.

Hawk took to the game and picked up the sticks, so now we’re seeing the game in action. And boy, it still looks rough. While the game is available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the version they were running was on PlayStation 4. But honestly, it looked like it was below PlayStation 3 quality. The game, visually, just looks horrible. I don’t get it…

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 - Mall Area
Let’s all go to Frosty’s!

The above image is of a mall level Hawk was playing through as Lil Wayne’s character in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. The area just looks completely drab. The Frosty’s storefront looks like cardboard scenery from a high school play, as opposed to a living environment within a big name franchise on a new, powerful consoles.

The clip is fun as a whole, so it’s worth checking out. But I can’t help but feel like the only thing that could possibly save this game is if Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 actually feels like the Tony Hawk’s of old. If the gameplay doesn’t pull a 900 and stick the landing, this may be the last we hear of the Pro Skater franchise.

Check it out for yourselves. Hawk gives an okay appearance. Wayne seems high, but quite funny with plenty of “that’s what she said material”. And Conan gets a Lil Wayne tattoo (with a sharpie). Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 releases Tuesday, September 29th on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Keep your fingers crossed…
