It was announced today by the Ubisoft team that there will not be an Assassin’s Creed game released in 2016. Though fans of the franchise are used to an annual release, Ubisoft assures us that they are taking a step back this year for legitimate reasons. In a recent blog post, Ubisoft states “we’re taking this year to evolve the game mechanics and to make sure we’re delivering on the promise of Assassin’s Creed offering unique and memorable gameplay experiences that make history everyone’s playground.”
Since the Assassin’s Creed Unity release back in 2014, Ubisoft states that they’ve learned quite a lot based on the feedback provided by their fans. Ultimately, they want to use this year to re-examine the franchise as a whole.
This can only mean good things for the beloved franchise. Hopefully Ubisoft will deliver accordingly to their fan’s expectations.
Despite the setback of a new installment of an Assassin’s Creed game this year, we are plenty eager for the release of the Assassin’s Creed film. The action-packed adventure, starring Academy Award nominee Michael Fassbender, is set to be released December 31st, 2016.
