Anyone who buys and installs Halo 5: Guardians when it releases later this month will have to lend the game up to 60 GB of their Xbox One storage space, an image of the game’s box art suggests.
For comparison, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s install size is about 32 GB, and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’s install size is about 49 GB. This makes Halo 5: Guardians larger than normal, depending on what exactly the “up to” wording means. Put another way, on the base, 500 GB Xbox One model (which only has about 365 GB actually available) 60 GB is a little over 10 percent of the storage space. That’s pretty hefty.
Halo 5: Guardians will be sold as a bundle with a 1 TB version of the Xbox One console, which would have a much easier time accommodating the install size. But it can’t get rid of the potentially long download time for people with slow internet speeds, and the hit it will do to a data cap.
It should be noted that the $249.99 Halo 5: Guardians Limited Collector’s Edition only comes with a download code for the game, but it can be exchanged for a physical copy if you contact Microsoft customer support by November 1.
Halo 5: Guardians is set to release on October 27.
